POST-OPERATIVE PAIN MANAGEMENT AND LASER THERAPY
Sheets Pet Clinic is pleased to offer laser therapy as an additional means of post-operative pain control. Laser therapy is noninvasive and uses wavelengths of light to speed up metabolism at the cellular level. This reduces inflammation and pain at the incision and accelerates the healing process.
Providing post-operative pain management is now the standard of care in veterinary medicine. We know that animals have the same type of nervous system we do and feel pain from surgery just as we do. Studies have shown that unmanaged pain actually slows the healing process.
All animals having surgery at Sheets Pet Clinic will receive pain management post-operatively. Cats will receive an injection on a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication post-operatively or, at the surgeon’s discrection, an oral post-operative pain medication. Dogs will be receive an oral post-operative pain medication to go home.
Both dogs and cats will receive laser treatment immediately post-op.
